CNC Machine Operator

About the role

Set up and run CNC turning centers that machine brake drums to OEM tolerances. This is hands-on, skilled work — you will own your machine's output quality and uptime.

What you will do

• Set up and operate CNC turning centers (Fanuc or Siemens controls) for brake drum internal and external machining.
• Load and change tooling — boring bars, facing tools, chamfering inserts.
• Perform first-piece checks using micrometers, dial bore gauges, and surface roughness instruments.
• Conduct in-process dimensional checks at defined intervals and log results.
• Identify and respond to tool wear — adjust offsets, flag for tool change.
• Perform basic machine maintenance: lubrication, coolant top-up, chip clearance.
• Maintain tooling consumption records and flag inventory shortfalls.
• Follow SOPs for setup, running, handover, and end-of-shift housekeeping.

What we are looking for

• Vocational certificate or diploma in CNC machining, mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
• 2+ years of CNC turning experience, preferably on large-diameter parts (250mm+).
• Ability to read technical drawings with GD&T callouts.
• Proficient with hand measurement tools: micrometer, vernier caliper, dial bore gauge.
• Understanding of cutting speeds, feeds, and tool geometry for gray cast iron.

Nice to have

• Experience machining brake drums, hubs, or other heavy-duty cast iron parts.
• Familiarity with Fanuc 0i-TF or Siemens 828D control systems.
• Basic G-code editing for minor program adjustments.
